- reduced roasted barley 0.75 to 0.50 (for color)
- changed from maris otter to golden promise
Dec 2, 2020:
- scaled from 75% to 70% brewhouse efficiency
Jan 2021
- restored to Maris Otter
- reduced roasted barley, swapped rest for brown malt to reduce roast flavor and color
- use only UK malt.
- 80% brewhouse efficiency compared to 68% last time. Only conscious changes were switch to Maris Otter and double-crushing.
- Tasting notes: Color good; minimal hop aroma as expected, however, still a touch too sweet...maybe reduce the crystal? |

ABV 4.2%
1 x 10l corny full and 1 x corny with approx 13l in for bottling so probably around 23l in fermenter of useable beer.
First impressions are not too bad but too much plum.
Nice colour and malt flavour
Will brew again but use less water and less plum essence (probably 8ml) next time
recommendation for 39 litres of water next time, also up the alkalinity of the water to around 200ppm, so leave it at normal level,
