| Notes: the robobrew's pseudo brew-in-a-bag setup is supposed to do a good job of draining the wort off the grains, and as such sparging is supposed to be unnecessary. I save a bit of water, here 1.5 gal, to mostly rinse the grains. Sparge water is poured over the grains and allowed to trickle through the grainbed into the initial wort. |

This beer is the shit. I am not sure if it is perle hops or the sweet love of the vienna or the victoy malt I love the most. It is so drinkable and very unique for a pale ale. I would make this 100 more times because it is that good. |

centennial - lemon and floral
vic secret - pine and pineapple in dry hopping, earthy in the boil
Equinox - citrus, tropical fruit, floral and herbal characteristics. Specific descriptors include melon, berry, orange peel, lime, papaya, pine and fresh peppers.
Eureka - citrus, resin, tropical and dark fruit along with aromas of grapefruit rind, citrus and tangerine
Went down to 1.017 after three weeks. Bottles gush, seems like at 1.017 fermentation was still not finished. |

Consider using wyeast 1450 instead as Denny fav 50 tends to accentuate the malt character and mouthfeel. Also reported to have lower attenuation and produces very little esters, even when fermented warm, though I will aim to ferment colder.

Look up C02 level for Marzen
Drinking notes:
WLP 036, it NEEDS to be lagered for at least 1 month, and do not stir up the gunk at the bottom of the keg/bottle. It's bitter, and weird tasting. A good combination would be gelatin and then a 1 month lager for extremely clear beer. Also, it is slightly too sweet and "sticky" for an oktoberfest beer. Adjust the grain bill to drop FG to something closer to 1.015 and use a LARGE starter to get this beer to ferment extremely clean. A better yeast would be a kolsch yeast, as it tastes cleaner. |
