Notes: came out tasting like real grapefruit, not a hint or flavor but just like you took a bite, very good, I take that back this is a great beer. after conditioning and the greenness went away, awesome beer can't get enough
you will need 2 yeast with a starter or 3 without
note to self brew this again, use secondary cold crash with gelatin, let age for 2 weeks, very nice |

Notes: Modified version of a Spotted Cow clone recipe. I'm not a big fan of the cream ale style so was looking for something established that I might actually enjoy drinking. Or someone will.
OG recipe here (unaltered notes below):
https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/672/spotted-clown-new-glarus-spotted-cow-clone-
-----------
pitch 1600 ml starter at 68 degrees
Mash in the 152 to 154 range for a bit of body. You do not want the beer to thin.
I've made this brew 6 times. Last batch was Mar 6 2014. If you have ever tried this brew from wisconsin, (New Glarus) brewery this recipe comes close to what Spotted Cow is all about. They claim it is a Farmhouse Ale but do not use Saison yeast.
After extensive research this is what I came up with for a recipe. The are secretive about the yeast they use, but the consensus is, it is a Kolsch yeast either Wyeast 2565 or WLP 029 and I think it is 029. My preference is 2565. Wyeast 2565 is my house yeast.
Ferment at 58-60 degrees with Wyeast 2565 or 62-65 with WLP 029
I've had good compliments on this brew from others. I live on the Wisconsin border and they don't sell it in Illinois, for some reason they will not ship it to this state. Will update as needed but for now this recipe is a pretty solid clone.
I made 11 gals (2 batches) in march 2014 I cant keep it in the house fast enough. SWMBO and her friends love it. With the temps soaring in Chicago this is a great brew for summer. From kettle to glass is about 5 weeks so turnover is quick. Good luck if you try it, shouldn't be disappointed.
Made batch 7 (5 gal) on 6-14-14 and used Mt. Hood for flavoring (.5) and aroma (.5) I think the domestic hops are closer to the original flavor. -enjoy-
Made batch #8 2-28-2015 no changes should be ready to drink mid April
Cheers |

Herbal like Lipton green tea. Earthy and minty but only slightly. Also, almost soapy but not offensive.
Willamette on it's own is kind of strange and lacking but not undrinkable.

Fermentar a 18 grados. Al séptimo dia y una vez que la actividad del airlock ha cesado, purgar levadura y pasar a temperatura de maduración (lo más bajo posible). |

| Notes: went by description on hill farmsteads website and guessed at time and amounts of hops/grains. ibu on site said 85 but historically I've noticed that if I hit the ibu on brewers friend it ends up too bitter in the beer so I'm going short on the ibus for this one. will tweak with v2 after assessment of this one. cross your fingers! |

Notes: One of my favorite recipe's! This is a 'hop blast' method spin on the original, meaning no 60min hop boil, but extra hops at 15 min to achieve the same IBU. With nmore hops used at the end of the boil you can achieve bitterness IBU but pack more hop flavor and aroma. Method WORKS! I use 1 extra ounce, Columbus, at 15 min. No honey, name comes from honey malt used.
Cheers, Jim.
