Notes: Scored 26 at Iowa state fair with notes regarding oxidation. Beer was approximately 2 months old at that time and was starting to show signs of oxidation from keg. Notes also stated needed more hops however hard to determine if muted from oxidation or underhopping. |

Notes: Brewed on 11/13/2020 using BIAB Method
Strike water vol = 8.75 gallons @ 160.5 degrees F which made mash temp = 153 degrees F at start of mash (60 minutes long).
I added 8.4 grams of gypsum and 2.4 grams of anhydrous calcium Chloride. Concentrations of major ions located to the right.
SG = 7.5 gallons @ 12.7 Brix = 1.051 g/L
OG = 6.25 gallons @ 15.1 Brix = 1.0616 g/L
Hydrometer = 1.062 g/L
On 11/15/2020, beer is @ 68-70 degrees F and fermentation is close to max Krausen.
FG = 1.010 g/L corrected (hydrometer method)
FG = 7.3 Brix corrected to 1.010 g/L (Refractometer Method) |

Notes: I actually put in twice as much coffee malt and special b.
Recipe indicates correct amounts for the style. This beer will be darker than style. Also, I will add 750 ml of Stirrings Simple Blood Orange Martini mix to the primary fermentation on day four. No actual blood oranges were added to the fermentor.
This mix consisted of water, sugar, blood orange juice, key lime juice, and citric acid. |
