This is my second attempt at building this recipe. First one was a SMaSH beer that landed thin and lacked complexity. I was trying to build a good lawnmower beer, but it needed modification. Just bottled today (Jan 22, 2024) and I'm happy with how it turned out. Maybe not lawnmower worthy, but was very balanced. |

I don’t have an exact recommendation on the ppm of calcium chloride to have in New England IPAs or the perfect ratio of S04/CaCI2 but my experience would suggested starting with <200pm of calcium chloride and a S04/CaCI2 ratio of close to 1:1 (which does go slightly against some of the research).

Description on Can says It's a light farmhouse ale, floral & spicy with a crisp dry finish.
The mash temp was low at 63 C which should help keep the taste and finish dry. The hops chosen should provide the spice and citrus, floral notes. |
