Notes: This is our first home brew.
There are few mistakes that were made in terms of vessel and adding oak chips. Other than that, we have followed the full sanitary process. We forgot to measure the OG.
I added oak boiled water into the fermenter after a week, instead of adding the sanitized oak chips for oak flavor.
FG is 1.022.
Carbonation came out well. and beer tasted a bit over oaky due to oak boiled water. |

Notes: This is a quick beer to make and a quick one to go down. I will brew this when I am brewing another batch the same day,, as the grains for my other recipe steep, I will throw this 20 minute boil recipe on.. it takes a bit more of coordination, but I get two 5 gallon batches done in about the same time... it ferments quick, I salvage the yeast ($)
I strongly recommend the Gelatin for clarification, after the fermentation is done put the gelatin in the carboy and have it sit for 2-3 days, if may not clarify up immediately, but once you get it cold, it is crystal clear
Very easy drinking, great for summer.
Switch the hops around to Tennanger and Perle if you want a more German feel |

Notes: Steep grain in 5.5 gal of 153°F (67°C) water for 30 minutes, then raise the temperature to 168°F (76°C). Remove the bag, rinse the grains, bring to a boil and add DME and hops.
Fermentation temperature in the 66–68°F range. Add the 1 oz of medium toast American Oak Chips after primary fermentation is complete, allow 7–10 days of contact time. Add the dry hops 3–7 days before packaging. |
