What are you drinking right now?

Post brew day beer. This is part of my bi-monthly reward for being a BJ’s Beer Club member. Yesterday I picked up this 4-pack, and also got a bomber bottle of Specialty Milk Stout.

Pretty fresh - canned on 10/6/21. Not a bad beer, considering it cost pretty much nothing.

Only thing that's missing is your signature foam:).
yeah this is a little weak :)
I upped the flameout hops. Nice EKG flavor and aroma. Hopefully it settles in nicely. Going to get a proper pour this weekend.

Brown IPA. I really like the malt profile on this one and the amount of bitterness is great (for the style). However the hop flavor is a bit over the top :) I bittered with Chinook and used 1 oz of Northern Brewer at 10 minutes and hoo boy is it herbal/minty at the end. And the bitterness almost creeps up on you, and then liiiiiiiingers. It's been in the bottle 3 weeks and I think I'll let the other case go even longer. Might be a great Thanksgiving beer. No great head formation/retention but that's typical for me for bottle conditioned beers with carb tabs as priming sugar. Plenty of bubbles on the tongue

Too much Chinook will do that, I've had that happen as well as with northern Brewer

I was also looking through my notes and saw that I did this one with filtered tap water with some campden added. So it's possible the mash pH was too high and I'm getting some astringency. I've ordered a water test because I want to know for sure what I've got before I use it for another beer.

I think if I'd used another hop with N Brewer it would've helped. But a brown ale with citrus/tropical hops sounded pretty disjointed, and I did a bad job researching hops. Maybe something more floral like Willamette or crystal? Or an American "noble" hop like Mt Hood or Santiam. Dunno lol I'll have some revisions to make next time for sure. But it is a tasty beer just not what I was expecting :D

This is what I mean by some night life bug action around my taps:eek::D

I should say cheers to these ladys and gents they help keep me employed and well it's their biggest night of their life!

What?
Their Alates the termite caste responsible for future of the termite colony. All these reproductive termites are on their colonizing flight this evening. The air is hot and humid and storms have been and are still brewing it feels you could cut the air with a knife it's so thick!
This is perfect time for termites to launch and go in search of a new nest site.
2% will survive! Go forth I say but don't multiply in my place lol

That's a kolsch I had to fish one of them frisky termites outta the tap before I poured this:p.cheers

On the beer it's finally come good after lagering it over a month not my best example but I'll finish the keg In honour of keeping my brew goal this year of not tipping a keg fingers crossed ...

Fuggles is a very good hop for browns and ambers

My first experience with a "cold IPA." It's tasty! A crispy, version of an IPA without a lot of medium malt flavor but LOTS of hop aroma and flavor. Not crazy bitter, but definitely bitter as an IPA

How’d you like that? I thought it was good for a sip or two but was so malty that I had a tough time getting through a bottle. Would be a great pairing with a bottle of whiskey and a nice fire I suppose. :)
I’m sipping lol. I like it. Quite malty, touch of smoke, peated malt? A little much but I like malty. Would be perfect by a fire.
