I upped the flameout hops. Nice EKG flavor and aroma. Hopefully it settles in nicely. Going to get a proper pour this weekend.
Too much Chinook will do that, I've had that happen as well as with northern BrewerBrown IPA. I really like the malt profile on this one and the amount of bitterness is great (for the style). However the hop flavor is a bit over the top I bittered with Chinook and used 1 oz of Northern Brewer at 10 minutes and hoo boy is it herbal/minty at the end. And the bitterness almost creeps up on you, and then liiiiiiiingers. It's been in the bottle 3 weeks and I think I'll let the other case go even longer. Might be a great Thanksgiving beer. No great head formation/retention but that's typical for me for bottle conditioned beers with carb tabs as priming sugar. Plenty of bubbles on the tongue

I was also looking through my notes and saw that I did this one with filtered tap water with some campden added. So it's possible the mash pH was too high and I'm getting some astringency. I've ordered a water test because I want to know for sure what I've got before I use it for another beer.Too much Chinook will do that, I've had that happen as well as with northern Brewer
Fuggles is a very good hop for browns and ambersI was also looking through my notes and saw that I did this one with filtered tap water with some campden added. I think if I'd used another hop with N Brewer it would've helped. But a brown ale with citrus/tropical hops sounded pretty disjointed, and I did a bad job researching hops. Maybe something more floral like Willamette or crystal? Or an American "noble" hop like Mt Hood or Santiam. Dunno lol I'll have some revisions to make next time for sure. But it is a tasty beer just not what I was expecting
How’d you like that? I thought it was good for a sip or two but was so malty that I had a tough time getting through a bottle. Would be a great pairing with a bottle of whiskey and a nice fire I suppose.
I’m sipping lol. I like it. Quite malty, touch of smoke, peated malt? A little much but I like malty. Would be perfect by a fire. How’d you like that?
