What are you drinking right now?

This one wasn’t the best. This was a supply boost. I just used some extract and hallertau.

Ahh, gotcha. Do your kveik batches have a slight tartness to them? My friends described it as "champagney." I don't dislike it, but I read that a lot of brewers make clean tasting beers with the same yeast, and was expecting that as an outcome.

They definitely have a kveik taste. I don’t find it clean in the way I expected either. I’ve been real happy when using 90/10 2 row and c60 with cascade hops. I also like it with some wheat mixed in there. My last Kveik was 2 row, c60, and wheat at about 4.5% and I really liked it too

Now my darker than intended ESB

Rye IPA (20% Rye)

I went for a riff on the Lagunitas IPA hop schedule. At least it was the best information I could find on the web.
Bittered with Columbus.
Centennial and Willamette @15.
Cascade late.
Centennial and Cascade dry hop.

A really nice hop buzz. Very enjoyable.

Have you ever had a Cragunitas?

Dunkel. My last 2 bombers were in the back of the fridge and partly frozen. Sucks I have a chunk of ice in the bottle. Here is what poured with a huge head. Little alcohol bite I assume from the frozen water. Reminds me of a doppleBock a little

Stopped by to support a local craft brewer, they make the odd good beer, so I do tend to stop in the odd good time... this is a very good example of a 6% hazy, 30 IBU's, leaves a bit of a tart resinous aftertaste. Good enough to bring some home and see what my beer snob friends think!

Sure am glad I grabbed some of these to go! I am having a second one tonight and the first was that good. I should point out that they tend to make styles that don't appeal to me. In this case the canned version, eclipses the on tap version.

Anyone Googling Cragunitas?

A long time ago I found a Lagunitas IPA clone recipe and decided to go for it. Probably 150 gallons brewed ago. I have no idea how accurate the recipe was, but went for it. I brewed on a Friday night after work (a long week), and was enjoying a few adult beverages as I mashed, and lautered, and Vohrlofffffed, and was also distracted in so many ways. So, I get to the boil, and I look at the first hop addition, and think: "that doesn't seem like enough hops...
Long story short, I doubled all hop additions, and it turned out so good, I brewed it back to back. It is just about time to brew it again.

That is a lot of hops for sure.

But I have to admit that I am enjoying my beers more as I have gradually increased my hop usage. Maybe its my taste, maybe its the way IBU's are calculated in the software, maybe its the hops I use, maybe its what I have been getting accustomed to...who knows? I do need to take note, however, that concurrently brewing and partaking, while likely quite fun, is probably not best practice. ;)
