What are you drinking right now?

I don't know if I have seen that one down here or not. They do a nice job on some of their lighter beers, but Publix seems to only stock the mainstays and not much of the seasonals.
They had a really nice 4. something % summer ale last year. I had some at the brewery in North Carolina, but when I got home, it was only available for like a week.
I’m at Hollywood studios Disney. Not seen locally. Perks of travel:)

I'm right up the road:) I'll keep an eye out for it.
Homestate is only about 10 miles away from there. If you get a chance, they make some great beer. I was there yesterday, and the board was awesome.
Also, the beer at Polite Pig in Disney Springs is made in Winter Park. They have a couple of really goood ones including one of my favorite Saisons.

I’ll check a store at least. Had a cigar city ipa earlier. Tasty as well. As someone who make malty at home it’s refreshing to get some hoppy stuff.

If Polite Pig has the Ravenous Pig Trucks & Trains, try that one. 4.5 % DDH Pale Ale. Light as hell, hopped up, and tasty.
You also have one of the Persimmon Hollow breweries west of Disney in Flamingo Crossings.
That Cigar City stuff is heavier than hell and about 7.5%. Be gentle with that in the heat.

One from over your way, @Donoroto Jekyll Brewing in Alpharetta, Cooter Brown Ale. Lotsa crystal in this for color. I think it’s smothering the hops. I’ve developed a nose for Crystal 60. Kinda leaves a slightly scorched taste and aroma. Gotta go easy on the Crystal or marry it up with a much more flavorful malt to sweeten up the bitterness a little. I think maybe the target was missed on this one. Can says “malty” and “caramel” and “chocolate”. About all I get is unsweetened hershey’s cocoa powder. Like you, just kinda whelmed.

The missus keeps finding things for me to try now that she knows my style preferences. I’ve heard of being “drunk as Cooter Brown”, but this is the first time I’ve drunk Cooter Brown.

Yeah, they're not far from here, we go there once or twice a month. Their 'retail' location is where @Semper Sitientem and I went for a brew day a couple months ago, you might remember that post. I recall their brown as being ok.

Today I compared my smoked lager to the standard. Mine is definitely less smoke, lighter and more foamy. The Schenkerla (on the left) is a bit too smoky to enjoy more than one.

Any other recommendations they might distribute over this way? I do like browns and stouts, as long as the brewer making them doesn’t think they all have to taste like earwax. That balance thing again…..

Their big beer is hop dang diggety, a very nice IPA. They make a few variants, I like the pineapple habanero. They also make southern juice, another nice ipa, and their vienna lager is a superb example of the style. Most of their stuff is good, but not all their styles get canned. A great honey porter with Ed Parson's honey (A local guy known for his bees) but that was strictly on tap.

That is the greatest can ever.
Yeah, they definitely made their reference very plain. Says it’s got dark roasted crushed peanuts with the malt. Can’t be a whole lot because there would be one heck of an oil slick in the fermenter. Not sure how well that would work.

After a routine dental appointment, I stopped at The Bier Stein for some liquid refreshment. This is Spruce Budd Ale, with wild foraged spruce tips, brewed by Fort George in Astoria, OR.
I really like what spruce tips bring to a beer. It’s nice to live in PNW.
ETA - after looking it up, I had to share. This flavorful beer is made with water, Pilsner malt, spruce tips and yeast. It has great aroma and flavor, and it’s simple.
Looking forward to trying this at the source next week!

Lol... " "Cooter Brown lived along the Mason-Dixon line at the time of the Civil War. He had family on both sides, and, not wishing to be drafted by either the North or the South, he decided to get drunk — and stay drunk — so that he wouldn’t have to fight in the war"

Local history lesson!

It is an ale, so should be in my wheelhouse. Last week while hiking, I was looking at tips of various conifers, wondering.
I still need to dry hop and package my Ginger Ninger, but Beach Brew has to be bottled first. Then I want to replenish Smooth Stout. Probably too late in the year to get fresh tips, but something to think about for next spring.

Thank you Ben, but you're being too kind. Theirs is a Smoked Beer, mine's a beer with some smoke. But I don't tire of drinking mine, if you get what I mean.

Wowie your a busy brewer = happy brewer in my books.

Definitely worth a small batch down the tracks maybe especially since you actually liked the spruce tipped beer.

I hear and real alot of bad press online about the spruce tipped beer maybe it's a fine line between just the right amount and too much tips tip it over the edge into sink swill...
