What are you doing with homebrew today?

Yeah @Josh Hughes that sucks about your back - hope it improves soon.

I have taken inventory of my hops and brewing salts, as well as made the decision on what I will brew on Monday. Later today, my wife and I will be going to lhbs (Windsor) to pick up ingredients, and sip on some craft beer and cider. Along the way, I will fill my 5-gallon bottle with RO water.

I keep opening my ferm fridge to check on the newest beers. It smells wonderful in here :D I'm leaving for a couple nights and I'm carefully eyeing the BRY97 ferment on the right...I THINK it has enough head space, it's been about 24 hours since pitch. I don't currently have the supplies to set up a blow off tube, so I need to decide soon if I need to run to the HBS or hardware store to get something going

I think (hope) you have enough head space there - it would be a shame to come home to a mess. You must keep your spigots relatively loose to be able to rotate them.
I have noticed with my own FerMonster that a tiny bit of leakage occurs around the seal, even though I tighten it firmly. Given the prevalence of ants within our walls, I would hate to attract them to my fermenting beer

I don't rotate them, but I use tubing to gravity transfer and there's more than enough pressure to go up and through the spigot. It's more important to me that the internal pickup tube is oriented down. I'm debating if I should at least put the fermenter in a pot/bucket so that if it does overflow it won't spill onto the floor

BRY97 is pretty infamous for big fluffy fermentations and this brew has a lot of proteins from the wheat malt, so fingers crossed I gave it enough room to grow :)

Internal pickup tube, that’s something I might consider. Thanks for the idea.

I've got 2 kinds; one manufactured by Williams Brewing that plastic extruded into a mold. It has some imperfections in the plastic that are worrisome, but I haven't had issues with keeping them clean and sanitized.

And I also have PVC pipe fittings that are threaded/slip elbow joints. I believe it's 1", but honestly I took my spigot into the store to make sure it fit lol

Brewed up a wheat beer with azacca and kegged the Munich Dunkel. Very pleased with the clarity in the Dunkel. It's on a little bit of pressure of CO2 and I'll let it lager until the 1st week of November when family will be visitingView attachment 17905
I usually cool it to 37-ish and start out at 35-40 psi for a day. It is drinkable then (but lower to serving pressure!). Then to 12-ish for long-term storage.

Went to the lhbs for CO2 and grain for another batch of Wayner's pale ale, expect to brew tue or wed.

Got it transferred. I didn’t have an easy time transferring. Lost a lot of pressure and still didn’t get all the beer. The downside of keg fermentation is I don’t know what’s going in inside. But I’ll chill and drink the rest from the fermentation keg so no biggie really. Does verdant hang in the top? That could have caused issues with my floating dip tube

Is that one of the NEIPA yeast strains? It's possible that it's not super floccuant, but I could be remembering wrong

We miss you! How are you doing? How's the remodel going?
My back has improved marginally, and I feel it is heading in the right direction thank you. Kitchen is almost done, back splash going in Monday. Making good progress in the basement as well. Moving day is this Thursday!

It is taken from the Boddingtons yeast but people are using it for NEIPA and it’s marketed that way. @Trialben said his didn’t clear with it. My issue was the thickness prevented my floating dip tube from sinking well enough for a good transfer.

Yeah maybe a cold crash woulda helped I'm sure when i used it it throws a good krausen.
But you'd be transferring after this has died down.
Sometimes a gentle shake can get that stubborn left over krausen and hop material to drop down for you.

Haha I did a little shake to get a Pint from the fermenter, actually had to keep shaking. Next time I will definitely crash it.

Wrapped up a long brew day, pitched the Abbaye BE-256 for the first time. Calling this one Dubble Trubble, which seems to match my unorganized brewing process. Next time I’ll … probably reinvent the wheel again.
I hope it turns out well for you. Is your final recipe public?
