EXPERIMENT: The last 4 beers haven't given me a smooth finish I want and this is a clone of the the last been (121) which had 200 gr hops per fermentor, exept here i am doing a split batch with no DH and 100 gr in the other ferm to see if the large DHs are giving me something like a hop bite, despite my cold crashing. The only difference is i upded the IBU by 3 points to allow for a bit more in the HS but this should not contribute significantly to the exbeeriment.
Into the DH ferm you will have 100gr total with Galaxy being 50 and th eother two 25gr.
Preboil was 1044 and OG was 1050 - bang on. Good brew day.
Kegging: Both ferms gave 1012 FG, so 5 %
The 100gr DH provides somewhat more hop aroma and flavour, though not a significant difference. There seems definte evidence that half the dryhops give a lot more than half the aroma and flavour, as it seems only marginally less than I might expect from 200gr. There is a solid bitterness but no off flavours I'm getting at the moment. Decent sweetness.
