Who do you cheer for?

Holy crap! The Habs are playing in the NFL now!

Being from the UK (though i moved to the states when i was young) I cheer for my hometown club (Sunderland AFC) in the league below the Premier league. Lots of up and downs (mostly downs) but glad i can watch most of the matches via CBS/Paramount this season.

I mostly cheer for a good game! I have rooted for the Yankees, SF Forty Niners, even the Celtics.
All of my life, LA Dodgers, LA Lakers, LA/CA/LA Angels, LA Rams were my teams, but a good game has always mattered most.

I am an Alabama alumnus so naturally pull for the Crimson Tide when it comes to football. I have no real interest in professional football other than following some of the achievements of Alabama football alumni (e.g. Derrick Henry, Tua Tagovailoa, et al). But I will turn a lopsided game off when it’s a total blowout that shouldn’t happen.

For baseball, (though I rarely watch it anymore) I was (and am) a Reds fan since the Big Red Machine years with Pete, Johnny, Jose and the rest of the boys. I used to get the teachers to put the game on if they played during school hours. I also love the Braves because of a Mobile native I met when I was 8 years old by the moniker of “Hammerin’ Hank Aaron” and a young pitcher who pitched a NoNo in his rookie year (Greg Maddox) Hank Aaron came to visit the children’s home I was in between 1964 and 1970. I liked minor league baseball when my kids were growing up and Michael Jordan was playing for the Birmingham Barons (Chicago White Sox farm team). Went to several games one summer and he was a pitchers dream with an enormous strike zone. He looked very odd in a baseball uniform as tall as he is.

Zero interest in hockey despite Birmingham hosting at least two teams since I’ve lived here. I did see a bar fight one night but the police were called when it turned into a hockey game.

Basketball? That’s my nap time sedation and I pass out in minutes when someone puts basketball on the tube. March Madness is very aptly named because it drives me insane for everything to be inundated with basketball.

I’m also a bit more international in my sports favorites and am an Adelaide Crows (Aussie Rules Football) fan. The word Rules is a bit of a stretch. The Aussies don’t like rules, and like to keep things simple. The first rule I think is No Biting. I’m not sure there is a second rule. In all appearances, the game is less rules and more like organized chaos. Fun to watch though.

Roll Tide

I schedule time to watch sports so rarely, but might listen to a game while being productive if it catches my eye. A good game is a good game, regardless of the teams or sport.

Reds plus bengals equals pain! But that’s the life I’ve chosen haha. When I was a kid I wanted to be Eric Davis or Boomer Esiason. Now I’m just happy for a win :-(

Used to enjoy the college football games until the transfer portal turned it into a professional sport.
Also used to enjoy the NASCAR races on Sunday until they turned into a bunch of crybabies and intentional wreckers. I still like to watch the XFinity kids race on Saturday here and there if I have time to watch it.
As much trauma as I went through this year, I actually like my albums, the beach, my breweries and relaxing on the deck much more than sitting inside and watching football all day. Damn, I'm unamerican LOL.

I’ll second the idea of the portal and more recently the idea of the college players being sponsored and paid along with their rather exorbitant scholarships. Most athletes scholarships are 3-5 times more than academic scholarships and that wasn’t enough. I had classes with a few players that were pretty smart dudes who were really getting an education along with the sports, and I could only wish for the funding they got as well room and board at the University’s expense. I got stuck in the seat behind EJ Junior in calculus class. That was one large mass of humanity. I probably weighed in at about a buck thirty five back then. I felt very small sitting near him. He was gracious enough to realize I couldn’t see the instructor and swapped desks with me. Nice dude. Large and very intimidating, but nice.

Roll Tide!! Tough second half after a blowout in the first half. Two true freshmen wearing #2 jerseys with two huge plays each. 2 was not Georgia’s lucky number tonight.

Welcome to the SEC Oklahoma and Texas. Both won conference games today. Maybe they do belong in the SEC.

Fireworks going off for the undefeated chiefs here, hope they can stay healthy

Great World Series game last night. I about changed the channel when the Dodgers were behind 5 - 0 right away.
But they came back to win it all!
Normally I watch the Twins lose games but I am from LA so I had to pull for the Dodgers.

I had albums and classic movies on this week. I was reading about the game this morning, and I know someone when I go to the brewery tomorrow night that is going to be upset. Just reading about it was crazy.

Hoo boy, the Seahawks are getting my hopes up again this week. 2 TDs scored right before halftime. I'm nervously excited for the 2nd half!

Bracing for a complete destruction of my team, led by the backup QB, V. Detroit.
