Who do you cheer for?

FLAvEDM would have each of the top 4 picks from the 2014 NHL draft
Or a team from a state without state income tax vs another team from a state without state income tax.
In the last 5 years 7 out of 9 finalists have been from states without state income tax.

As an American fan it's more fun for me to root against the Canadian team cause so many Canadians get bent out of shape that none of you have won in 30 years. Even though every team is like atleast 50% vacation
Canadian anyways. I find it funny and entertaining.

I only truly care about one team, oddly the teams I dislike the most are some of the Canadian Teams...
#1 disliked team - Ottawa Senators, very strong dislike, and zero respect
#2 disliked team - Montreal Canadiens, strong dislike, but healthy respect
#3 disliked team - Boston Bruins, only because the bastards keep beating us, respect the history and organization though
#4 disliked team - Arizona Coyotes, only because their management were such bumbling idiots, I hope the Utah Whatevers do well
#5 @SabreSteve 's Sabres, not sure why I like to see them wallow and flail, but I do  sorry Steve, maybe if they were any good ever I would like them

Not so big into sports as I used to be back a few years but if you've heard of Rugby League different to rugby Union by a bit.
My team is North Queensland Cowboys thryve only in last 10 years joined the comp and have come away with a premiership win 2 years back against my 2nd fav them Brisbane Broncos.

Love Cricket but Aussies arnt at top of their game atm because we lost two key players due to cheating against the South Africans ball tampering... nawtee nawtee

Don't mind watching the Tennis with the Australian open on in Melbourne again it's tennis time again hopefully we can make a semi final .
Cricket is so confusing! I was at a park recently and a huge Indian group was having a cookout or something along that line and they were playing. Tried to figure out what was going on but i have no idea.

I love rugby, played it in high school in Baltimore MD a long long time ago.

Braves/Orioles -- MLB
Clemson University -- College football
Capitals/Penguins -- mainly to annoy my gf who loves the Rangers.

I have actually started to watch some Pro Disc Golfers. Fun to watch. Fuckers are casually throwing perfect 600ft drives and landing right by the basket around trees and obstacles, its crazy to watch.

Imagine seeing your first baseball game ever. Some basic elements are visible, but a lit of it is just a mystery.

That being said, cricket is also arcane in many ways.

I used to hate the Sens but they just haven't been relevant but in the Spezza-Alfredsson-Heatley days I couldn't stand them. For my generation of Sabres fan the Pominville short-handed OT goal in game 5 to eliminate the Sens is like the biggest goal in team history. The Rick Jeanneret "Now do you believe..." "These guys are good, scary good" play call doesn't hurt it's status.

Habs are similar where yeah they're a long time division rival but haven't been relevant and really is no real bad blood in my life time.

I hate Boston in an entirely different way than the Leafs. Their team is scum. Marchand is a rat. Then there was the Lucic-Miller incident which I'm convinced is what first derailed the Sabres over a decade ago. The misguided attempt to get "tougher to play against" after that failed and led to the first of like 4 succesive rebuilds. And I hate how they've been due for a decline for like 5+ years but somehow just stay at the top. Can't stand them.

I can't stand Philly cause of their fans but don't hate the team that much.

Have a healthy dislike for Pittsburgh, the Rangers, and Detroit.

Loathe Chicago for reasons but that might get political so I'll leave that alone.

I will forever hold Grudges against Dallas and Carolina. Dallas straight up cheated us. Carolina was more awful luck and injuries but that 05-06 Sabres team was magic and I think the best team in franchise history. That was our year.

Toronto is the team I most love to cheer against though. Sorry @Craigerrr Part of it is proximity, and there always being Leafs fans at home games vs the Leafs. Part of it was just bred into the franchise with Punch Imlach being the first GM. There's even a myth the Sabres are blue and gold cause Punch thought it was classier than blue and white (it's not true but it lives in team lore). Part of it I think is having a front row seat to Toronto thinking it's the center of the hockey universe. At the end of the day I'd describe it as an intense sibling rivalry. We might hate other teams more but we take a special satisfaction in wiping the floor with our older brother

Dallas's cup winning goal should not have counted, but... it was a stupid rule in the first place, which was changed before the start of the next season.
But I get your sour grapes over that.
Oh, and just FYI, Toronto IS the center of the Hockey Universe :D:oops::D:cool:

Any thoughts on the current F1 season? Canadian Grand Prix at 2pm EDT today. Looking much more competitive than last season which is good for the sport. Even as a Red Bull/Verstappen fan at a certain point I got bored with him winning every race by atleast 30 seconds. Also excited to see my boy Danny Ric qualifying in P5 the day after being called out that he doesn't belong on the grid anymore. Think it'll be a fun race today

Been watching T20 cricket world cup.
Some interesting and unexpected results so far!

Rooting for the Celtics. Hoping tonight will be win number two on their march to the championship!

I very much agree that a competitive sport is much more interesting and entertaining to watch. Nothing against Louis Hamilton but, for years I rooted against Mercedes (sorry Don) simply because it got boring seeing a Mercedes 1-2 finish race after race. And with now Max winning 50 of the last 75 races, I was happy that others have been winning lately.
