Whiskey, Bourbon, and Other Fine Spirits!

I remember watching I thing on whiskey making comparing the different countries Scott's using peat to heat their mash imparting different subtle flavours in the whiskey.
I think it was canadians dont leave it in the barrels as long? Correct me on this though.

I know bundeberg rum gets its wood from Canada to soak its liquor in is what I found when doing the tour years ago.
Massive oak barrels a couple of stories high and all wood no nails.
Anyhow my 2c

Pretty damn good

Crown Royale has numerous different whiskeys now, different "flavors", Blah blah...
The only one worthy of sipping neat is the "Northern Harvest Rye", it is very good, I would liken it to an Irish or a smooth Highland.
As noted, I have a wee bit left.

Tonight's dram of choice however...

I've had my eye on that one. I think it's the unique bottle that keeps catching my eye.

I see tons of different Crown Royale available and I think it's a huge seller for whiskey just because of the branding and everyone knows it.
I've seen the black I think it is and wondered how that would be, but think I might seek out the rye instead and give it a shot.

I had a bottle of the black and it was actually pretty good (albeit sweet). I think that it was aged in bourbon barrels as well if i remember correctly. tried it at a sampling at the liquor store and ended up buying a bottle because it was so tasty.

I have to admit that I have not had this, here is what it costs here in the Great White North.
Don't think I would buy this without sampling it somewhere first.

I can get the rye and black. I might see if they have either in the little shooter bottles 1st though.

Well, having a little covid juice seeing as how I just got put on quarantine for 14 days for a direct exposure. I guess we'll see if it actually takes 14 days for a release. I would think I could be tested after the 5 day incubation period. I'm not entirely sure where the 14 days are coming from, but just doing as I'm told.
Anyway, this is a novelty whiskey for sure and I'm fine with that being a big Walking Dead fan. It's not bad really and I may buy a few more just for collectors sake and I think the bottle and labeling is really cool.

Good antifreeze if nothing else :D I got a jug of Ten High in reserve. Been awhile, but drank it for a number of years when things were tight. Wondering if I can still enjoy it.

We are seeing some cold temps here in the mornings especially. 19f tomorrow.

I posted this in another thread but probably more fitting here. This is my 3 gallon barrel. The distillery brought it today. This sucker is stout for sure.

What are the plans? What goes in first? Inquiring minds want to know. :)
Not sure honestly. We had rum in it that just got bottled and I think we will just buy a bunch of cheap whiskey or possibly gin and fill it up again. I've been voting for buying bunch of Mellow Corn to fill. We shall see!
