I'm going to try a low carb beer maybe this weekend. West coast Ipa or pale ale
Nobody ever gets a zero, either, so it's really only two....Haha I'm just quoting @Nosybear!
Wheary wheaty whitbierI'll be playing around with something wheaty once I get a fermenter free.

That looks pretty good, albeit, perhaps a little bitter for my tastes. I like hoppy, but not bitter, if that makes any sense.Change of plans got some Enigma and Amarillo Inbound guess what will be going in my blonde ale this weekend yup.
I'll save the Willamette for something more complex.
Here she be for those interested.

For a "Blonde Ale", I would have to agree it's a bit too bitter. But call it a Pale Ale and that looks fantastic! That looks pretty good, albeit, perhaps a little bitter for my tastes. I like hoppy, but not bitter, if that makes any sense.
Oh no, are you saying there's participation awards in beer judging? Say it ain't so, please! I guess that's the world we live in. When I was growin' up, getting your feelings hurt once in a while was also considered learning experience. We always called 2nd place the first place loser as an incentive to make us try harder. Can you imagine what younger generations are ultimately going to do to competitive sports?Nobody ever gets a zero, either, so it's really only two....

Hilarious!
That's why I call my hoppy blonde a golden ale!For a "Blonde Ale", I would have to agree it's a bit too bitter. But call it a Pale Ale and that looks fantastic!
What's in a name anyway?

Absence makes the brewer get to work on another batch.I think I'm rebrewing my roasted brown beer, just kicked it the other day and I already miss it
I will switch the German lagers and Irish beers. I’m trying Imperial Global instead of dry 34/70 and that pack expires sooner than the Irish ale yeast in my fridge. It will be a few weeks for me since I have 3 kegs full and one waiting on the lager brewed yesterday. My next 4 are planned and grain ordered.
- Irish Red
- Irish Stout
- Helles
- Dunkel
If you choose to interpret what I was saying that way, fine. We don't give anything below a 13 and we never give 50s. Any score in between is fair game. I've judged a few and no one gets a participation award, in fact, I've judged flights where no medals were awarded. What we don't do is criticize without offering suggestions for improvement. That said, I have given 45s, and 13s. But I've never insulted a brewer on a scoresheet and never will, not even a 13.Oh no, are you saying there's participation awards in beer judging? Well, guess I won't bother trying any contests then. Nobody wins if nobody loses. "No child left behind" has done a lot of damage to our society. It should more properly be called "No Child Gets Ahead" or "What size shoe do you want on your neck?".
As for my next brew, hmmm, maybe LA Mud Puddle (Kona Big Wave knockoff). I do like the hops in that one. Makes it taste like mangoes. Might as well simulate tropical summer in our nasty wet semi-freezing weather. I'm thinking maybe a slightly heavier dose of the Galaxy in the dry hop to really kick the hop flavor.
Like writing 'yer mother wears army boots'?But I've never insulted a brewer on a scoresheet and never will, not even a 13
Yeah, that bitterness calculator makes me scratch my head some. That one must have been written by the same accountants that the company uses to calculate it's costs. I can't get close to the same numbers that I get on the recipe sheets of my LHBS. But, they sell their bittering hops by AA, and flavor/aroma hops by the ounce. Doesn't matter it's exactly the same hops. That's where my wheel usually comes off. It's all percieved bitterness remember
It's subject that Enigma is 18%AA I think this is throwing the WP bittering out
