You know that battery you traded in the other day? You know the liquid inside it?I've NEVER had a drop of kombucha in my life. No clue what it even tastes like nor why I would drink it.
Just sayin'.

Ok. Not that bad. But sour.
Hmmmm...maybe I'll just scratch that one off the gotta-try-oneday list!
It depends on what you get. Most are very gingery, not sour. I thought with all the fermentation fanatics on this site, someone might enjoy it It is open fermented tea usually made with fruit and ginger and usually highly carbonated. There is an alcohol version, but the ones in the store are usually below 0.5%. I love the damn things, and Publix even has their own brand.Ok. Not that bad. But sour.
Oh yeah, I come in for a Gatorade with lunch, but I tend to avoid those while working so hard. They're not real good for the ticker. When I put the tools/equipment away, I'll have another Gatorade for a cool-down, then follow that with a couple more big helpings of water, and then chase it all down with a nice cold beer just before dinner. I can tell when the electrolytes are down, too. Arthritic joints will let you know quickly. Gettin' old SUCKS!Gotta be careful Roach, if you tend to suffer from dehydration!
But don't only drink water. You need to replenish electrolytes.
Worse suffering I have seen in my pretty harsh climate is when people only drink water.....

Nothing ventured Nothing gained RoadRoach. As for next brew, pretty much outta time to get the Quarterly in. I get a little too repetitive in what I brew, especially if I find something I like. I do 22L batches, so don't wanna brew up a big batch of something I don't want/like. I need to have a look at the quarterly recipe.

Indeed. The Q recipes have never once let me down. Sometimes they are a bit difficult to shoehorn into my schedule, but every one that I have brewed has been worthwhile. And I have learned a lot brewing outside my comfort zone. There isn't (at least I hope there isn't) a rule that you have to brew a quarterly brew in the quarter is was selected for. I went for a 6 month stretch where I didn't have time to brew anything. After brewing a couple of recipe's of mine I've really been wanting to brew, I will look at the quarterly brews I missed and brew one of those. As for brewing a style you're not sure you will like, try a commercial beer of that style. I did that with one of the quarterly recipes and wound up not brewing it because I just didn't like that beer style. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed in a quarterly brew. And even been pleasantly surprised by some. One in particular was @Nosybear's Big Lubelski (Piwo Grodziskie). I never would have brewed that one on my own and therefore would never have known I liked beer maed with smoked wheat malt.
Scary how beer tends to work out if we let it. Glad to hear the batch turned out fine.Well after a VERY long lagering period my Cali Common that I believed to be a dumper, dropped clear and taste is right on point...so I'm feeling lucky.
Going to take another stab at the style I just can't seem to get right. Thinking I need to increase my batch size to get the mash right so I doubled it to 11 gallons...

That one looks about as simple as a beer recipe gets.Well after a VERY long lagering period my Cali Common that I believed to be a dumper, dropped clear and taste is right on point...so I'm feeling lucky.
