What are you doing with homebrew today?

This afternoon I checked up on it and found somehow the keg top was open and the lid hanging into the keg. .
I clicked 'like' but I really did not like to hear the news. My condolences.

That sucks man. Lost about a gallon a few weeks ago from a faucet issue.

I don't imagine the open lid will hurt the new Irish Red. Hopefully it just thinks it was cold crashing an extra day.

Probably over kill but after listening to a stainless steel expert talk about electrolysis and electrolytic corrosion in dissimilar metals, I but some rubber washers and bands on my galvanized steel stand offs that hold my stainless steel valves on the aluminum pump platform on my rig.

I kegged up my JA Irish Red yesterday afternoon. This afternoon I checked up on it and found somehow the keg top was open and the lid hanging into the keg. Of course now the CO2 tank is empty and my other beer is crying out to me for CO2.
I put the small 5 pounder (you can see it in the pic above) that I use for purging and what ever. but it is about empty too. I'll have to make a trip to the welding store tomorrow. I had Just refilled my CO2 bottle about one keg ago.
Noooo that sucks man! So leaking lid?

Not just leaking, completely open with the lid hanging down inside.
This is after the purging, pressurizing to 30 psi.,and transfering the brew to it and stashing it in the kegerator winh the CO2 connected.
The only thing I didn't do this time (because I had to leave soon) was put it on my rocking machine to force some CO2 into it. That might have been REAL messy!

Even if it is overkill, it's cheap insurance/piece-of-mind against that possibility.

Wow the CTZ and Comet combo is super citrusy and dank/resiny. Perfect for a West Coast IPA if that's what you're searching for. I put about 3.5g of each into ~2-2.5 gallons of Golden ale at serving temp. It now resembles a hoppy pale ale just a couple hours later

I ordered another floating dip tube and put in an ingredient order at the LHBS. Next up is another whack at On Tap golden ale. Trying BRY97 instead of S04 (and I want to build up some BRY97 for a West Coast IPA). And I'm doing a run of Shady Boh, but changing up the yeast quite a bit. I want to test out my spunding valve, so I'm going to ferment it with S04 and try to suppress the ester fermentation. I don't expect it to taste like a lager, but hopefully it doesn't resemble a British Porter TOO much... And I'll be doing no chill for both of these batches. Once I do a short hop stand I'll gently siphon into a keg, put a few PSI pressure on with the CO2 tank, and then put in the ferm fridge to chill overnight to pitching temps.

Your not putting that keg in hot sunfire? That's gunna work that fridge out if so.
If it were me this is how I'd play it. Transfer hot to keg lid on leave over night then in morning pop it in the fridge to cool down to pitch temp.

I'd imagine you could easily drop it to low 20s over there ATM.
That way You don't risk burning out the fridge...

Good thinking Ben, thanks. I usually wrap up brewing around noon. I'll leave it out until it's under 80F
