What are you doing with homebrew today?

There is no wrong kind of brewing. Without coffee we'd all be asleep right now...
I know I'm more productive on coffee than beer:D.
I was listening to a podcast on the discovery of coffee in the west before coffee we had beer and tea but anyhow the correlation was coffee made us as a whole more productive.

I don't know about you guys but
I have a coffee I'm ready to take on the Day!
I have beer I'm ready to relax and well sleep:D

Just got delivered today - my new mash tun. Had to build it up from the parts as it still had the original drink dispenser push tap.
The delivered bazooka was replaced by a modified 1 meter long stainless steel flexible hose with the rubber inner tube removed.

This tun holds 42 litres compared to my previous one that only held a max of 30 litres. I plan to fit a LCD thermometer with dangling probe (ooo matron!). My electronic thermometer / pH meter unfortunately only measures up to 50C so I can't use it here but will fit it to my fermenter so I can track the pH there (just why I need to do that I have no idea but it has been mentioned before by someone so there must be a good reason for it).
Now I will have to update profile settings so I sense a brew will be done tomorrow.

Indeed, I'm not going to change my system do drastically - just upgrade it a bit.
I am definitely OLD school - and a year older on Saturday!!!
I have added a LCD thermometer to the lid now so the probe sits about the centre of the mash.

@Craigerrr we have that same burr grinder in our house, just for my wife’s habit. Sadly, I am no longer able to enjoy coffee due to esophageal issues.

Same grinder for me as well. @Herm_brews there are some lower acidic coffees available now. Of course I can’t vouch for taste as I haven’t tried.

I’m wide awake and functional, and I have not drunk coffee since 2018. I would if I could, but I can’t so I won’t.
I should clarify that most mornings I enjoy a cup of tea, Earl Grey being my favorite. So caffeine isn’t a problem for me, but something in coffee is a big problem.

I bottled the new porter recipe tonight...the oats do make for a silky mouth feel.

And 24 ounces of Voss slurry to boot!
I used VOSS for a Coffee Porter a while back, and found that the VOSS "tang" didn't work very well with the style initially.
After aging it for a number of months however the tang virtually disappeared, and the beer was great.
I will be interested to hear how yours tastes, and develops.

Kegged Yooper’s Oatmeal Stout. Finished at 1.020 (from 1.058) and got 66% from WY1450. Not really a concern as much as a note to self. Not uncommon for me to get lower attenuations from darker beers. Sample smelled and tasted on-point, as much as flat, room-temperature beer can. :)
