What are you doing with homebrew today?

Bottled up my LA Mud Puddle yesterday, but got busy with some gardening work so forgot to post about it. Need another brew to do. Seems when I make better beer, I drink more of it and run out faster. Wonder why that happens? Last batch of Rapier Wit is almost done. Think I'll do another just for the speed.

Sampled the LA Mud Puddle and WOW, it's hoppy and tasty. A touch of bitter when first in the mouth, but fades very quickly after swallowing. The bitterness doesn't linger like a lot of hoppy beers. Mosaic is definitely louder than Galaxy, but I'm not getting the mango hints on this batch that I did with the Galaxy. Maybe more noticeable after conditioning, Guess I'll have to wait. That's what I liked the most about Big Wave, but this is good too. If it's as good as I think it's going to be after it carbs up, it may not last long at all.

Maybe so. I’ll give it a look. I need another one anyway because of the dial. Be good to have a backup. My dumbass could see the beer getting close since I transferred the traditional way on this one.
You can also install a one way check valve on the gas line.
I've done this before and it didn't kill the regulator just the pressure dial you can buy those sepperate unless yours is all in one unit.

This.
I have check valves on both of my kegs as insurance. I also cut my gas tube as short as I could.

I have something that i use when I close transfer. i can’t remember what it’s called but a ball closes off the pressure release when it get filled.
This was full dumbass not watching the tube.

Yeah one of those shut off float valves I bought one of them used it a time or two it works great though. I've sent beer through the blowtie a time or two (the old one) lucky that is easy to disassemble and clean:).

Did that before too

Do you think you can break it more by disassembling it? The worst that can happen is you have to throw it away, which is the current case anyway. Go ahead, see if you can rinse the stout out of it, and make it work again.

I’ll see what I can do tomorrow

I ordered hops from Great Lakes Hops
1 pound Hydra
1 pound Michigan copper
2 pounds Bergamot
I think I'll use these in my American wheat over the summer to see if I want to use them in an IPA
Watched a review of Great Lakes Hops last year. The brewers made the same pale ale 8 times and each featured a hop. Some seemed really interesting!

I started wet conditioning my beans recently, and lined the bin with some tinfoil in order to dissipate static electricity, works really, really well. I sprits some water then stir the beans then repeat a couple of times, then let it sit for a couple minutes.
Oh, wait, sorry wrong kind of brewing. Forgive me, its all I have right now:rolleyes:

@Craigerrr we have that same burr grinder in our house, just for my wife’s habit. Sadly, I am no longer able to enjoy coffee due to esophageal issues.

As for brewing, this morning I finalized numbers from yesterday’s brew session. My process is more efficient than my assumptions, so I need to make some adjustments to my equipment profile. The Azacca pale ale was projected to come in at 1.053 for 2.75 gallons. I got 1.061 for 2.65 gallons. The pre-boil volume was good, but the pre-boil gravity at 1.047 was 4 points high.
In any case, my fermenter is bubbling away, so there will be beer - IPA instead of pale ale.

You'll have beer no matter what!!

Just got delivered today - my new mash tun. Had to build it up from the parts as it still had the original drink dispenser push tap.
The delivered bazooka was replaced by a modified 1 meter long stainless steel flexible hose with the rubber inner tube removed.

This tun holds 42 litres compared to my previous one that only held a max of 30 litres. I plan to fit a LCD thermometer with dangling probe (ooo matron!). My electronic thermometer / pH meter unfortunately only measures up to 50C so I can't use it here but will fit it to my fermenter so I can track the pH there (just why I need to do that I have no idea but it has been mentioned before by someone so there must be a good reason for it).
Now I will have to update profile settings so I sense a brew will be done tomorrow.
