I brewed today!

Brewday from hell today. 1st - my mash ph was way low. I had to scramble to fix that. 2nd - I forgot to shut the flame off on the kettle and the mash temp got up to 170F. I pulled off a quarter or so and then added cold water to bring the temp down. Of course I was low on the OG. To bring this home, I probably overpitched the batch. I think it will be beer.....

I brewed Josh's Smiddicks today. It was sunny, 50°F (10°C), and I could sit away from the wind, so it was t-shirt day! Once the boil started, I just sat there in the sun listening to an Experimental Brewing podcast. If I could just get someone to do the cleanup, it would be a perfect day.

50 is sleeves if next to the burner LOL. Away, probably two layers or at least a denim jacket:) It was about 50 something when I got home from the brewery last night. I didn't last very long outside. Today would have been a wonderful day to brew. It got up into the low 80s

Nice gravity for a Pils:)
My goal was 1.047 but I sealed it before adding some top off water and a fermzilla is a pain in the ass once the lid is on. Using Munich 860 which doesn’t attenuate as well so abv should still be upper 4%

The elephants will be shivering.

It has been waaaaaaay too long, but I'm back in the saddle today! Really smooth day, needed a bit more DME than planned to hit pre-boil gravity. Should have this 4.5% hazy on tap by next Saturday or Sunday. Yeah, there is a healthy amount of hops in this one, 130 grams in the whirlpool, and 240 grams for a dry hop in the next day or two.

I bought a fair amount of hops today as well, but not that much lol. I'm going to do 10 minute and whirlpool additions next Sunday. The last time I used this yeast, it really liked being around 70F. The last couple of nights have been chilly at just under 50F for the garage fridge, but I have a feeling that won't last very long.

Just wanted to know how you add the dry hops while under pressure

Just wanted to know how you add the dry hops while under pressure
I just release the pressure, dump them in, then close it back up again. As long as there is still active fermentation the pressure will build back up. If necessary I just hit it with some gas. I like to do it later in fermentation, I have found that I get better aroma that way. Stands to reason as so much aroma is expelled if I dry hop early in fermentation

I tried once to blow them in from the collection jar. I filled the jar with hops closed the butterfly valve before the tank built pressure. The after the pressure built up opened the valve. The pressure from the tank blew the hops into suspension.

I have the allrounder, no collection jar

Yeah if I get another one it will be the all-rounder. I only use my fermzilla for lager to reuse yeast otherwise the collection jar is an extra thing to clean

Using VOSS on this hazy IPA, fermentation has already peaked, and begun to taper off, so in went the hops, slowly building pressure back up.

I love the allrounder, it saved my brewing career!
@Brew Cat , I had an injury a few years ago, two herniated disc's, wasn't able to brew for about 18 months. Part of being able to get back to it was to take steps to prevent heavy lifting. Enter the allrounder! I pump the wort into it, and transfer to kegs using co2. I built a little cart that is the perfect height that I can just slide kegs into my serving fridge. My back isn't 100%, and probably never will be, but is even better now than it was when I got back to brewing, which was a little over 2 years ago.

Same
Even my kettle fermenter use pressure.
Did you see my picture of carbonating a keg with blow off CO2?
