Even though Porter isn't my favorite style, I am really happy with this one. It has a subtle complexity that is very satisfying. There are many malt flavor notes, without any one being overbearing. Even the slight smokiness doesn't overwhelm the hints of caramel, coffee, melanoidin, cherry, and vanilla, all of which have just enough room to make their presence known. The bitterness is well balanced, between roasted malt and hops, and a slight floral/woody hoppiness fits the style. The mouthfeel is just a touch soft, but not to the point of seeming viscous. It's pretty much black.
