Notes

Mean Brews Inspired Recipe

Low on Crystal 120L so subbed a couple ounces of Simpsons Dark Crystal 95-110 L.

Ended up having way too much water. Ran 6.5 gallon into mash and boil, then added grain basket to a large pot and ran off another 3 quarts or so of wort. Began boiling on stove to try and reduce water, then added to mash and boil. Total was a little over 7 gallons. Ran all but 6.5 gallons back into pot and put back on stove to evaporate more water. Will try to shoot for 7 gallons total at beginning of 80 minute boil to maintain IBUs. Pre 7 post 5.75 instead of 6.5 and 5.5. Decided to boil for nearly 2 hours to reduce water to try and hit 5.5 gallons. Changed 80 minute hops to 65 minute for bittering. Used Warrior from Yakima Chief but best by was Oct 2022. Will determine if remaining packages need tossed.

*Updated sparge water from 4 gallons to 3.5 to use on a rebrew.

Ended with 5.75 gallons in the fermenter at 1.069 OG. Late addition chocolate and roasted barley may not have contributed to the OG due to the fast sparge.

Will use small batch in Oatmeal Raisin Cookie SHV

Add:
dark rum soaked raisins
cinnamon / cinnamon bun amoretti
oatmeal cookie amoretti
brewers best vanilla
capella graham cracker
