Notes
Bought an all grain kit from Northern Brewer for their Irish Red Ale recipe. Kit was complete and straight forward to brew.
A few notes:
- Preboil of 6.5 only yielded 4 gallons of post boil wort. It was cold outside with extremely low humidity so I think that accounted for the higher evaporation.
- Wort in fermenter was 4 gallons at a SG of 1.055, calculator showed adding .92 gallons to lower the SG down to the target of 1.044...I added 1 gallon to top off the fermenter to the 5 gallon mark. Slightly below the target, but I batch sparged so I was expecting a little lower efficiency.
