Notes
OG for this batch was 1.087.
I've brewed 8 previous batches of Red Ale (without the cherrywood smoked malt). I put 1 lb of Cherrywood smoked malt in my last batch of Porter and was really happy with the outcome, so I decided to try just a little less in this red ale. My last batch of red ale had an OG of 1.077. I attribute the higher gravity this time to a smaller volume of wort after the boil. The outdoor temperature was higher and it was less windy when I boiled this batch, and the final volume was lower (5.25 gal vs 5.75, or there about).
FG before bottling with 4.5 oz priming sugar was 1.026.
ABV 7.88%
