Notes
So this is a smash between Omegas Psuedolager and Clawhammer's Japanese Lager. Will post brew notes once it's done.
Hirakasa translates to Needle Umbrella in Japanese. It's essentially gibberish but it's an old inside joke with a Japanese buddy of mine.
4/6/21 Edit
This has been modified. The first brew did not go so well. The mash step wasn't long enough for the high amount of flaked rice and the final product was starchy and not great. So I reduced the over all grain bill and reduced the rice to 30% instead of 40%. Increased mash step by 15 mins and lowered the mash temp to 152. And increased the boil time to 90 mins. Also dropped the amount of hops to lower the ibu and added .25 lbs of Caramel malt for color.
Will post new notes when I brew again.
4/9/22 Edit
Brewed it today. The protein rest, 90 min mash and 90 min boil helped immensely. Nailed the conversion and hit my 1.041 target OG. My only change is the Aromatic Munich Malt. It needs to be there for color.
