I wasn't going to go there again but only fair to give this ruby a try as I think it is fairly new (though stand to be corrected on that point). Nothing remotely like the description so I won't cite it. Head dissipated ala cola and the carbonation was very similar too. I have very limited experience of ruby ales but this does not come close to the Woodforde's Ruby Ale extract kit (Tinsel Toes) I have brewed for the last two Christmas periods nor is it as good as the aldi one I tried some time last year. It has the weirdest bitterness in that it has absolutely no complexity whatsoever sat on top of just about the blandest beer I think I have ever drank. At least it will come in handy for visitors who only drink commercial beer - they deserve it. Coincidentally the previous commercial beer I tried (Banks's Amber Bitter) is brewed in the same place: Wolverhampton, England and that was pretty damn good and quite a bit cheaper too. Now happily sipping some of my cherry wine.
