What are you doing with homebrew today?

Well snatched defeat from the jaws of victory once again today. Local(ish) comp has a special "Stein" award for best Czech or German style beer, had a keg of one of the best batches of Shady Boh I've made on tap...so sanitize bottles my PITA counter pressure filler...and blow the keg before I get a single bottle filled...
That sux man:p!
Sorry someone's gotta laugh about it:)

Bottled this today. Got lotsa bills to pay, so probably won't brew today. Might do that tomorrow. Up next: Old Speckled Hen, or something similar as the case may be. Gotta keep the fermenter full to keep the pipeline going. Can't ferm but one batch at a time. Still too warm down here (85F today) to trust a batch to the elements. I might have to try out one of those high temperature yeasts just so I can knock out another batch while I'm slow fermenting one in the freezer. One or t'other gonna have to be in a bucket though.

This batch has a little bit spicy finish, probably the corriander. Used S-33 yeast on it, so I'm thinking that was a bad choice for this. Not quite as tasty as I hoped, and certainly not quite as good as the previous version, which was a bit closer to Bulin's 3 Day Weekend. Quite probably the nose on it that affects what I'm tasting, too. Hoping a little bottle conditioning helps out with that.

Can't click "Like" for that one Tim. Sorry to hear.

Sounds like a delicious beer. I might have to read up on the style and work up an AG version.

Edit: just found a kit for Bure Gold. Kind of light on details, but maybe we can read between the lines here. They mention notes of "passionfruit and orange" and American and Slovenian hops. Maybe some fruity/citrusy US hop (Galaxy and/or Citra?) and Styrian Gold?

"Pale and lightly roasted malts." So UK pale malt and perhaps something to give nice biscuity notes.

Looks like a local spin on a bitter. Love to know what else sets it apart.

I have a bunch of Maris Otter, just looking for a place to go. :)
Max, sounds very familiar like the one I read before purchasing. The colour is bordering on luminous but then I haven't seen any other golden ales so that could be quite typical. Apologies again I don't have photos - never was much of a snapper when I did have one of the old type. Maybe this forum is going to give me a reason for sorting that out - I shall give it some thought.

Corked and labelled the Malbec. Still needing to use the old mallet system to completely sink in a few with this new two handed corker. Glad I am somebody who doesn't just throw out old stuff as I would be climbing the walls regretting it on that score right now. Had a wee sip with the evening meal and it wasn't bad already - very clear for a red whilst still having a decent depth of colour. Just not convinced it actually is French after all, not like the Malbec I have had from that country before. Obviously needs time though and I have plenty in front of it. I don't drink a lot of red as it can set my tinnitus off.

Kegged the Bitter. 2x2Gal plastic kegs + 1x1Gal mini-keg. Phew it has been a busy week already and it is only Tuesday. This is the last chance for the plastics - been sat empty for a couple of months, if either leaks this time I shall give it/them away after what I went through the first half of this year. Could have made a horror film based on it 'Invasion of the Flies'. Make that a franchise... .

Tried some more of this last night, Max, and I was in a more relaxed and attentive mood. Slept on it all the same. Carbonation was still excellent with the head down to around normal gradually dissipating to a strong and lasting lacing. I had missed the now subtle but obvious 'bitter' as I am so used to different types of bitter but I also left the keg out the fridge longer before pouring this time so that has likely made a positive difference. The gentle floral aspect seems nicely entangled within that rather than separate in the mouth. But I am now sure it is a bitter even with the extra watering I applied. I also noticed the threat of an after taste but it doesn't sustain, just there with each sip or swill.

From my brewing notes: the hops (pellets in this kit added on day 4 of primary fermentation) included are: Cascade and Amarillo. I added 10 and 8 pellets respectively after taking time to appreciate their aroma as something of a novice going on my gut feeling.

I hope this helps.

I plan on kegging my Sierra Madre clone today. Hopefully all is good, Tilt has it finishing at .999 . That thing is usually fairly close. I don't usually use a real hydrometer but queriosity may get to me this time. If true it may a sipper (or dumper?).
.999? o_O

I agree that a hydrometer validation is in order.

Used a real hydrometer came 1.010 , time to recalibrate my Tilt . It's never been this far off before.
