What are you doing with homebrew today?

Nothing much. Just keeping an eye on the temps in the cooler and keeping my fingers crossed!
I may take a refractometer reading, just to see if the gravity has moved

Picking up grains for my next 2 brews

Now that is some clean looking slurry Ward

Lol...clean? Ah...ok..there was very little hops in this recipe...1.25 oz I think and I didn't dump the kettle so the brew came out of the fermenter very clean and almost bright with the trub being a nice dence cake of partied out yeast which is where I got the bread idea from....makes a nice toast for breakfast!

Well I havnt seen @AHarper around either I hope he's fairing well with Rona...
Hi Ben yes all ok here ta. Even mrs H has recovered. I have not brewed for some time - too many amplifier repairs taking up my time but will need to do two brews soon I'm running out of things to drink.

After a bit of an interruption and sidetrack with bad weather, some family emergencies and all the hooplah that goes with that, I finally get to brew another batch. It's either brew some or buy it. Craft beer isn't exactly cheap to buy, and I'm kinda spoiled now with the good stuff. Don't really like any of the BMC stuff at all anymore, so I have to brew or do without. So today's brew is a Leffe Abbey Blond extract. I've always done this with all-grain, but wanted to knock a little time off the cycle. A 3 year old grandchild running around brew pots isn't very safe, and I prefer to let kids be kids, so doing what I can to let the little tyke be one by avoiding brewing while he's on the loose.

I thought our days of having toddlers in the house were over, at least for the ones that we can't fill up with candy bars and Mountain Dew and then give them back. But, just like 2008, this year's birthday present for the missus was another couple mouths to feed and more laundry and all that raising another grandchild entails. Her birthday present in 2008 was supposed to be a brand new Charger, but she got three grandchildren and a mini-van instead. Without all the sordid details of my family life, suffice it to say, one day I'm a monster, the next I'm the safe haven. Go figger.

So, hopefully emergencies settled, and my life is somewhat back in form so I can get back to doing at least SOME of the things I want to do, including brewing

Next up, New Glarus Spotted Cow. The missus is encouraging me to do a double brew day. Might not be a bad idea. Might have to try out one of the new beers she got for me, though. One is a pretty strong Scottish brew (Founders Dirty Bastard), the other a Thai beer (Singha).

I was actually just thinking the other day... where is Alan, hope he is okay

After little games my buddy is coming over and we are brewing a Dunkel. Kids will play. Wives will talk and I’ll brew and drink :)
I may try to do a decoction mash or at least step it up adding boiling water. Never done anything other than a single infusion using propane.
