Tropical Stout (Rye Lager)

Well, you know your s#|t.
Fake it till you make it right!?!!? He said very very positive things about my beers.

Lol he tried my 7 day old Vienna lager and said he would have guessed atleast a month of lager time. Said it was the best beer he had had in a long time.

For anyone interested, here's the final version of my Tropical Stout. I'll brew it as soon as I bottle the Lager I have in the tank. I can't say how much I appreciated the input--quite a journey from the start. It is a bit more "Tropical" than I started, and I have to agree with Megary that it may drink more like a Porter since I'm leaving out RB and FB. But the addition of those, I believe, would detract from the finish I'm going for. We'll see where it goes. This is just one of what I label as Prima Vita (First Life) brews. Again, thanks.

Never expected anything but awesome. Congrats.

Are you adding any coconut extract or raw pulp? Or is all the coconut flavor coming from sabro hopping?
This recipe doesnt have any coconut in it. I have done coconut stouts before.

The first time i tried to use flaked, toasted coconut. I will never do that again. Everything was covered in coconut oil and it soaked up a huge amount of my total volume. just a general mess. It also really did not add alot of coconut flavor to the batch. I had to add coconut flavoring.

I generally use coconut flavoring if i want coconut.
