another one with hops added
I was calling it boil porn on another thread, just realized that if I searched the Interwebs long enough, that might actually be a thing. Ewwww....Sorry folks. I was just implying that this is adult “kettle porn” not a “childrens show.” It shows I’m the old fart.
off topic, sorry. but i thought a nice rolling boil helped to drive off DMS?
Firstly, DMS is only a factor on pils malts.off topic, sorry. but i thought a nice rolling boil helped to drive off DMS?
Yeah sure thing.I love these photos! Can I use someones for the brewing tutorial? (Yes, it's still a work in progress).
Firstly, DMS is only a factor on pils malts.
Secondly, due to the design on homebrewers vessels and the square cube law, homebrewers boil way too hard. If you are achieving more than 6% boil off, even will 100% pils there is no need to boil more than 60 minutes. Your beer will thank you for it.
Here's one of our latest. An English Old Ale with a quarter pound of Lyle's Black Treackle molasses.
And on a sidenote, in reference to boil/brew porn: The Finnish word for "to brew" is an endless source for sexual innuendo as it's homonymous with explicit act of er... love making.
ie. "There's nothing better than to brew with mates" has a wicked double meaning. Or "How much does it cost to brew at home?"...
There's even a craft beer company dedicated to naming their beers with stereotypical professions, like "The secretary" or the "Sales Manager". They will notify the public whenever they had been "brewing the secretary last night".

Indeed it is.Is this from the Brew Meister?
What is the kettle size for this?
That is a 10 gallon kettle with a little over 7 gallons boiling. What is the kettle size for this?
Wow serious volume - I manage 25 lt max but only manage to drink 20 lt before my liver complains... lol though I aspire to huge amounts my low volume concentrates my mistakes. My latest Extract brew is proving to be my best but am running out of it. I need to brew again.
That's too many losses for me... up your efficiency heheHaha, dang livers! They just weren't made for enough abuse.
By the time I boil and account for all losses, I'll have 5 gallons in the keg.
