Preventing trub from getting to the primary

You better have a big fermenting vessel and have a blow-off tube.
Cheers, JA. Sounds interesting. I have a 15L bucket, but usually use 10l ones. I don't have a blow-off tube. Is that just silicone tubing coming out of the airlock and going into a pot?
Also, do you transfer your slurry to another container or another fv? I suppose that would be a big infection risk though...

Totally depends. If I'm brewing immediately and have started in a big enough vessel, I'll rack off and refill directly. You can save trub/sediment in sanitized mason jars for later use. Sanitation is more of a problem with buckets than carboys...even if the plastic isn't harboring any undesireables, opening the top allows a lot of air transfer and wild yeast, bacteria can enter more easily. Just be super careful and clean and it'll work for you.
