Fun with Isolation

However, 98% or so are fine but a massive number are not tested.
Mortality rate varies with testing, as far as I can see. The more people are tested, the lower the mortality rate. We're staying home, going out only when necessary. We let the kids come over, I think without that contact we'd be nuts by now. And we're doing "virtual happy hours" with friends on Zoom.

However you slice it or dice it, close to 7000 reported fatalities worldwide yesterday, that is a shit ton of funerals!
The numbers look pretty low in Canada, but the per capita numbers are not that far behind the USA.

Well, I always keep my powder dry, plenty of beef in the freezer and my TP stocked with a 2 month or so supply. Problems I've had are pretty trivial, the keezer puked out, had to go back to bottling. Too much time on my hands at home...now I'm running short on bottles!!!(160 "carbing up" right now and another 7 gallons of cream ale to package next week) Should be able to bottle everything "in process" right now, but my Cali Common may have to wait until I get enough of them empty again.

We just had a procession of cars, and people walking by, honking their horns. The cars all had signs saying to clap for front line workers, and first responders. We all stood out and clapped. It was actually a very emotional moment. Here in Ontario, something like 33% of covid cases are health care workers.

We had a special ANZAC Dawn Service here this morning around Aus. We all walked to the end of our driveways holding a lit candle in recognition to all fallen soldiers who fought for our present freedom.
Those who could played the Last Post you could hear it being played in the quite still dawn morning air was quite moving.

They are like the front line entrenched soldiers in this battle against Covid cheers to them all!

That is great TBen, So important to appreciate the ones on the front line, I have said this before, here in Western Canada my wife is RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police)...Not totally front line but, semi close, or close enough. My wife (when home), my kids and I are out at the end of the driveway everyday at 7:00pm our time banging pots an pans for 2 min.... just to support the people out there helping..... I can stop and eat a hot meal when I want....they can't....it might be days before they get a proper meal....Bang...Bang...Bang!!

Alberta is doing fairly well, no thanks to our leadership. The doctors and support staff here will have my respect the rest of my life. Though our fight is less about making them feel good and more about not letting the government cut their legs out from under them.

We have 630 cases in our Region, population is 600,000, 31% of cases are health care workers. The next highest group is patients in long term care facilities at 25%.

Alberta's worst is the Cargill meat plant. Because of course close quarters meat plant isn't going to cause the spread.

our governor is contemplating lifting restrictions but leaving it up to the counties and our county board is showing films of the past time where the flue and the plague of 1918 where they lifted restrictions too soon and half the towns died, I personally think this could happen again if lifted too soon, the county is thinking the same but will decide in a few days, our cases have stopped a week ago but again it's because of the travel ban, you bring that back you'll see more will die, this is a big collage town with both out of state students along with a huge elderly population, not a good mix when faced with this situation

I won't go back to making sales calls, and going in and out of the office. I have been very fortunate to have remained busy, sales have been brisk, if I sell, I get to eat and stuff.

Sorry. Not to boast, I feel very fortunate. I pray for those less fortunate, and hope things get back to normal soon.

It's a very difficult question and the precedents are so long ago I'm not sure if they help. You have to be cautious, but too cautious and the economic damage ends up being the lingering problem. Good luck to us all on our public servants and politicians being up to the job.

I'm staying home. Company has already announced our Work from Home extends through May, regardless of what happens here. Colorado is in a bit of a "wild west" mode right now, the big Front Range cities extending their stay-at-home orders, some of the rural counties wanting to reopen everything. I, too, fear a resurgence in about 21 days as people think "leave your home cautiously" means revel in public spaces. As to masks, distancing, etc., at least every day I have some a**h**e in a Lexus try to kill me to get to the next light ten seconds earlier because, with the car they think they bought entitlement and the lights only apply to little people. To quote a movie, green means go, red means stop, yellow means go fast. I go into the grocery store, fully a third of people aren't wearing masks, people will run you down with a shopping cart for a can of beans....

As long as we continue to think that it's okay for me to kill you for my personal freedoms, I don't think the reopening is a good idea. I think we're in for a second, worse wave of cases and deaths. I'm all for individual freedoms but never forget: Your freedoms end where mine start. Hope this isn't too political, it wasn't meant to be.
