Converting from Propane to Induction

Nosy, I am looking into induction for my brew station in the basement. Currently everything is upstairs in the kitchen and the trip downstairs with the 5+ gallons of hot liquid has been inconvenient at best. I use an 8-gallon pot, bottom diameter 13.12-inch diameter. Have you come across an 1800 Watt unit that would work with this kettle? Most units seem to be for 10-inch, but as I understand Eddy currents, the pot could hang over the edge and the liquid would still heat up, just not as efficiently. Which make of cooktop did you decide upon?

no it wont boil, I have one and tried it, you can do a partial with about 3 gallons of wort in it and it works but not anything more

I guess I will look at the 3500 Watt units and unplug my 240v air compressor for a boil. I appreciate the response. Cheers.
I can boil four gallons with my 1800 watt unit, it takes a while to get there. I like doing small (three gallon) batches on the 3500 watt induction unit, it boils quickly and I can set the wattage to sustain the boil nicely (about 1200 watts). It heats very evenly - no scorching on the bottom of the kettle - and keeps a very consistent boil. I'm having to reset some constants to use it but no problem, I'll get them dialed in. I haven't tried boiling 7 gallons of liquid on it so I can't report - tests with water brought 7 gallons from tap temperature (high 50's) to a boil in about an hour and ten minutes. I'm using a 11-gallon Megapot, about the same size as yours, for the big batches.
