The first computer I used, had a teletype terminal, while the actual computer was filling an entire room at some other location. There was a cradle attached to the teletype where you placed the telephone handset into after dialing the appropriate number. It could answer complicated math questions, but more obscure inquiries needed the precise wording to achieve an answer. No screen, just type written answer on a paper roll.
