Rinsed and broke whole pods into about 0.5 inch pieces
Bulk of beans (>80%) went straight into steeping, while the rest were roasted in oven at 250F until inside of pods just started to brown
Steep beans in slow cooker (set to low) with about the same water/bean consistency that you would see in a mash
Steep for 3 - 4 hours and rinse with hot water into a pot
Boil in a pot to reduce volume. I try to reduce volume about 50%
Add bean extract at 15min in kettle
