When the hops were fresh, it was one of the best IPA's I've ever brewed! I tried to buy the hops from my LHBS to brew it a second time, but I think they were left open in the freezer for ~3 months so the beer tasted pretty vegetal. The hard part is finding any fresh Lotus. The hops by themselves showcased exactly as advertised with orange and a bit of vanilla. Adding a vanilla bean definitely balanced the two of them. I wouldn't try a vanilla-type extract, though. That may make it a bit too cloying. I wish Lotus was available to the public!

The hopping rates were on the heavier side, but that's how I preferred it. My friends seemed to love it, too. More hop aroma/flavor rather than bitterness. I wouldn't do any more than that, though
