Notes

I have another recipe based on New Glarus's Spotted Cow (in the clones folder), but I'm doing this one first because it's simpler and doesn't have any adjuncts which I don't think add anything anyway.

I typically don't like cream ale. It's a style that's trying to be an American lager with ale yeast. i'm making this more of an American Helles while still fitting the cream ale style guidelines which are very loose so it works out.

Used Weyermann Barke Pils because I had some leftover after making a bunch of German things for Oktoberfest. I would typically use pale malt.

  • 2018-10 session: way higher efficiency than expected (80+ vs 65) and lower FG means this is more of an AmeriFest than AmeriHelles. But whatever. Tastes pretty good.
  • used 4-month-old US-05 slurry from the fridge. Actually came out ok!
