No sparge. Use full volume in mash.
28.3 liters reverse osmosis water in the mash. BF water calculator was off. Ended up adding 5.2g each of CaCl and Gypsum to get pH 5.38. This was probably the amount I would have used for mash and boil combined.
Ran through hop back containing 28g each of EKG and Fuggles leaf hops.
Got a very high mash efficiency. 93.3%. 1.035 estimate came out at 1.044. Probably too high for a mild, so will likely end up as a bitter.
Pitched at 16.7C. Will allow to free rise. Open fermentation (i.e. Spiedel fermentor with an empty air lock).
Came out as a 4% beer, but had none of the thinness associated with a session beer. Very drinkable! 5 gallons went quickly.
