Notes
Batch #2 - 4/5/20 - (Eff.: 69 %, Att.: 72 %, ABV: 4.5 %)
- Pre-boil volume - 27.5 L (Using mash paddle measure)
- Mash vol.: 30.5 L, Pre-boil vol.: 27.5 L, Batch vol.: 23.5 L
- OG: 1046 (Refrac.), 1042 (Tilt)
- Honey (454 g) added at 30 min.
Substitutes;
- Warrior (old stuff) in for Tettnanger (12 IBU'ish)
- Swapped German Pale for Gladfields Ale, amount of base malt down to get 5% ABV to make it a bit sessionable, Red Back malt (0.27 kg) in for CaraRed (0.3 kg)
7/5/20 - Slow to start ferment but going hard now, SG: 1019 (Tilt)
11/5/20 - SG: 1013
12/5/20 - FG: 1012, cold crashed
14/5/20 - Kegged and carbed
People like it, described it as smooth, malty and easy drinking, and I'll take that for a red ale. Worth making again.
Batch #1 - No notes.
