I' ve made this recipe twice, both turned out really well. First one had an OG of 1.070, FG of 1.020. Second time, same recipe, but this time fermented under pressure in Fermzilla, OG 1.063, FG 1.00.

Nice balance of malt and hops. I used Styrian Golding both times, due to lack of Kent Goldings.

Update from my previous comment - I ran a blind taste comparative test - pretty darn close. The actual Old Speckled hen was slightly sweeter, I think this is because I didn't use enough candied syrup.

As far as a clone its pretty off the mark. I brewed this, very excited to find a good recipe. Just did a side by side and it's not really that similar at all. It's not a bad beer by any means, just not an OSH.
