This is my original recipe (I'm Mysticmead at HBT) This recipe is a proven award winner and appears to have been copied here (without my permission) and a very slightly modified version is on here as well (same name too). But it's all good. The more people that brew this beer the better. It really is a great beer.

When do you do the honey addition?

Late additions can be anywhere from last 15 of the boil to the end of fermentation, I put mine in the boil just to pasteurize it

Great malty beer. I used Wyeast Irish Ale instead. The finishing taste reminds me of a more toned down oktoberfest, but for spring.

I'm planning to try this :). What kind of honey do you use?

I use local honey but any will do, all it does is boost the alcohol and give a vigorous fermentation, you don't taste it so any sugar works too

I converted as much as I could to UK equivalents just for fun and it came out amazing. I tip my hat to you and beg your forgiveness. You can find it here under "Shelter In Place".

My first time brewing a red ale and I picked this recipe. I wasn't sure what to expect but this definitely crushed the expectations I had. All my buddies commented how great this beer was. Turned out great will definitely be brewing this again.

I think this is an experiment of Americanized Irish Red Ale, since there's nothing Irish about it. It will make a fine beer but it ain't be Irish red. And what's with the honey?
