Notes
This recipe is from "Brewing Classic Styles" by Palmer and Zainasheff.
Boiled 4 gallons to start with half the extract and all the steeped grains extracted. Achieved 68% efficiency on extraction as determined by RI measurements. Used two nylon bags X 1.1 lb each to increase diffusion.
Went smoothly, no special procedures. Oxygenated wort with 13 g O2 in 5.5 gallons of wort (1.070 actual). Pitched 13 g of rehydrated Safale -05.
As a bonus I dried the steeping grains in the oven to use for feed for the animals this winter.
