hydrated yeast in 150ml previously boiled water.
removed 1 gallon of wort first runnings after 1 hour of mashing and brought to a boil in a separate pot. let boil for 3 hours, about 25-35% remained. syrupy, tasted great, somewhat caramelized. added to boil kettle at flame out.
