Notes
Mash at 152 for 60 minutes.
First brewed 5/27/24.
Mashed in at 154 and lowered to 152. Used 6.3 gallons of filtered water. Pash ph was 5.4 after 20 minutes so did not need any adjustments.
Sparged with 1 gallon of 170 degree water. Gravity was only 1050 so added 1.6 lb DME. Efficiency only 60%, which was very poor. Put final hops in at flameout and let steep for 30 minutes before chilling.
SG was 1067. Cooled to 65 and added yeast. Fermented at 65.
Fermentation went well, with activity after 8 hours. After 4 days gravity was 1016. Added dry hops after 5 days.
Put into keg after 10 days in fermenter. FG was 1013. Color and aroma a good match for original. Palate is tasty but quite bitter.
After 2 weeks in keg the beer is smoother and very drinkable. Nice dense foam, subtle peach and mango nose. Light tropical taste isn’t as strong as Bodhi but it’s still very drinkable especially for a such a strong IPA.
