Notes
  • Ferment primary for until gravity is at desired FG.
  • Rack to secondary and drop temperature to 36F.
  • Rack to keg after 24-48 hours at 36F.
  • This beer is hazy and adding gelatin finings doesn't change that. Not sure it's worth adding them.

    Batch 49 Experience:
  • Gelatinized flaked oats in 160F water for 30 minutes prior to starting mash. Supposedly, this enhances their effect in smoothing out the beer. Batch 49 was the best yet so there may be something to it.
  • Due to snafus on brew day, the batch came in at 4 gallons, not the expected 5.
  • Added 1.25 fluid ounces of blueberry and pineapple extracts to 4 gallons of beer in keg just prior to forced carbonation. This seemed to be really good level of flavor. Scale accordingly for smaller or bigger batches.
