My plan is to split this batch of quasi-pure pilsner and then convert half to a schwarzbier by brewing a a "tea" of carafa and caramalt
This is the base schwarzbier recipe I have:
5 lbs. German Pilsner malt
4 lbs. Munich malt
0.5 lbs. Caramunich malt
0.5 lbs. Carafa III malt
0.25 lbs. Chocolate malt
Don't think I can do anything about munich, but will steep last three. Don't have chocolate, plan to skip
0.25kg caramunich + 0.25kg carafa.
Will ferment in 13L Jula bucket, so need to scale down original (5.5 gal = 20.8L ) recipe by x0.625 =
0.15kg caramunich + 0.15 kg carafa (rounding up/down).
Have caramunich-I and III, will use both, weighting to III to add maltiness (compensating forlack of munich?).
0.1 caramunich-III; 0.05 caramunich-I; 0.15 carafa
