Brewed on 10/19/20. Target mash temp was 148-150. Ended up at 152 with no drop after about 70 minutes. I knew at this point the FG would be a little high, which it was. I added more bittering hops in the boil to compensate, resulting in a porter balanced between grain bitterness and hop bitterness.
Two starters used. First was 300 ml then added another 1000 ml before pitching. Very active fermentation which pushed the limits of the blowoff hose.
Bottled on 11/1. Ran short on DME. Needed 170g but only had 160g so I substituted the last 10 g with corn sugar.
First taste on 11/15. Perfect carbonation. Medium/rich mouthfeel, Nice hop/grain balance for a porter, still leaning toward grain bitterness slightly. Not sweet at all. Head is very dark brown. I'm happy with this one.
