More of a british strong ale, similar to the first brew of this style. Going forward, remove the chocolate malt and focus on the caramel flavors and work towards a "baby barleywine". The chocolate/dark malts provide too much roast/bitter chocolate flavors that are not appropriate for the wee heavy style. |

Another month has done well for this brew. There is now a burnt sugar, brown sugar, raisin, prune combination of flavors coming through. An overall strong representation for the style of British Strong Ale and plan to bottle this and enter into competitions for additional feedback. |

Won 3rd place (out of 11 entries) at Fermentation Frenzy in July 2024 entered as a British Strong Ale. Overall feedback was the beer is a strong representation of the style but that it was a bit thin in body, medium to low in carbonation, and was a bit "hot" from an alcohol standpoint. Moving forward, I will focus this beer within the British Strong Ale category fully and work on the specialty malts and potentially some flaked components to improve body and malt complexity to enhance the beer within this category. |
