brewed last night.
i kind of rushed into this before getting everything settled with water and chemistry....
...forgot to adjust for pH. I did not add any acid malt. seems i still got decent efficiency but not sure what high pH means for taste and hop utilization etc.
originally id planned for an ounce of hops in the mash but i forgot so updating the recipe to reflect a 60 min boil
changed from zamba to sequoia. the sequoia didnt smell too interesting, metallic sort of smell like the amber lamps using evergreen. might be time to throw all these 2021 BSG hops away.
anyway I found some citra in the fridge so i subbed 3 oz sequoia for citra in the whirlpool, and i have another 2oz citra i will use in 2nd dry hop.
for water, i followed the format ive used for the last two cold ipas, adjusting tap water for an easy ipa profile

new recipe!
old shit ipa, using a bunch of old shit laying around the home brewery. not going to the store to get anything! base malt is on the older side. the 10L is almost a year old been stored in a paper bag inside an "airtight" container that i go in and out of all the time. the zamba hops (might substitute sequioia depending on whats in the fridge) ive had in the fridge for at least 2 years. not frozen. probably will bust open new packs though so shouldnt be oxidated. will prob use 34/70 reused yeast from the fridge or maybe some lutra or other kviek depending on whats out there.
considered trying to make this a cold ipa by using some minute rice from the cupboard but that will be another day...
