Is it a dopplebock? IDK, Chocolate malt is a bit heavy and roasty for it. It's still tasty. It's like a dopplebock and a stout had a baby. It's not completely a doppelbock, but I generally tend to vary no more than note on any style before I fall out of it. For this beer, it's the half pound of chocolate malt. First glass was that nice and malty bock taste with a little roast and that bitter chocolate aftertaste. There is a warming sweet alcoholic note at 8.5ish% ABV. Very subtle berry/sweet note as well. I'll have to let this age on tap for a bit before really giving better notes. while it probably wouldn't win a competition, it's a great beer! |
